Moving Into Holistic Health

On February 25, 2026, our learning journey shifted from the element of Air into a new focus on Holistic Health, turning our attention inward to our bodies, movement, awareness, and overall well being. To help guide this transition, we welcomed Terry from Mindful Movement Arts, whose grounding and encouraging presence immediately set the tone for the day. Learners gathered in a circle, with parents and guides participating along the outside, creating a shared experience that invited everyone into the practice.

Through playful and engaging movement, Terry introduced the group to what he calls the three treasures: focus, control, and awareness. Drawing from movement styles such as tai chi and qi gong, parkour, and animal movements, the kids explored how to move with intention while tuning into their own bodies and staying aware of others around them. The emphasis was on curiosity and exploration rather than perfection, allowing each learner to participate in a way that felt accessible, empowering, and fun.

As the session unfolded, the energy in the circle deepened. Terry introduced sticks for each learner, guiding them to twirl, balance, and move with presence and control. Later, he brought out wind swords that make sounds when moved through the air, sparking instant curiosity and creative expression. Each child invented their own movement and sound, then stepped into the center of the circle to share while the group watched and celebrated. One particularly magical moment was watching the learners hold their sticks upright, run to a new spot, and try to catch them before they fell. Laughter, concentration, encouragement, and the occasional frustration filled the space as learners practiced moving with both confidence and care, discovering how perseverance and patience support growth.

The experience was so meaningful that we are delighted to welcome Terry back once a month, with future sessions tailored to the evolving interests of the kids. This day offered a powerful foundation for our Holistic Health focus, which will continue to explore the body, mind, and spirit through movement, mindfulness, and self awareness.
